Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi Attends Reception for the 216th Anniversary of Mexico’s Independence

On September 11, 2026, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi attended the reception for the 216th anniversary of Mexico’s independence hosted by the Embassy of Mexico in China and delivered a speech.

Qiu Xiaoqi congratulated Mexico on the 216th anniversary of its independence and said that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Mexico relations have demonstrated strong vitality. Recently, Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs Roberto Velasco Álvarez paid a successful visit to China, and the two foreign ministers had an in-depth exchange of views on the development of China-Mexico relations and issues of common concern. Next year, the two countries will celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. China is ready to work with Mexico to promote the sustained, sound and steady development of China-Mexico relations.

Mexican Ambassador to China Jesús Seade spoke highly of Mexico-China relations and stressed that Mexico is ready to take the recent successful visit to China by the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs and the opening of the Mexican Consulate in Chongqing as an opportunity to further expand exchanges and cooperation in various fields and achieve more outcomes in Mexico-China relations.
